5/12/11 2D Design

Today's Class- Tonight was the final class meeting of the semester. Everyone in the class presented their Board Game project, then I dismissed everyone while I graded those, the semester portfolios, and any back owed projects. Most returned to pick up their graded work, but for those who didn't I put everything on the top shelf of the horizontal shelves closest to the classroom door. I can't guarantee how long things will stay there, so if you want your work back, I recommend picking it up as soon as possible.

Final class grades have been posted to WebAdvisor. Enjoy the summer..

5/5/11 2D Design

Today's Class- Other than filling out the class evaluation forms and looking at a few late arriving collage projects, the class period was devoted to working on the Board Game final project.

Semester Portfolio- Next week as part of the final grading process I will be grading the semester portfolio- all the work done in class that was not an individually graded project. The following items (with the dates they can be seen on this blog- use the archives at the right to access the earlier months) are expected to be part of it:

2/3/11 Wallpaper patterns with dots
2/10/11 Contour Lines (shoes)
2/24/11 Value study (charcoal)
3/10/11 Color Wheel and color mixing
3/24/11 Text as a visual element/ logo design
4/21/11 Color still life painting

Homework- Nothing new, but some students still owe me a few back projects, such as the limited color palettes and the various collages. Any overdue projects not turned in next week will be worth zero points. The Board Game project is due at the beginning of class May 12, 2011.

For next class 5/12/11- We will hold a group critique of the Board Game Final Project at the start of class, and then I will dismiss everyone for a while while I grade those, the semester portfolio, and any back projects. Graded work will be available to be picked up later during our class period.

2011 Student Juried Art Exhibit

Coming up later this month is the first Annual Student Juried Art Show. Here is all the information that I have as of now-

Students may submit as many artworks as they want for the exhibition. There are no entry fees for the show. The art for the show must have been completed within the last academic year (Fall 2010 to Spring 2011), and can be something made in class or on your own.

Drop-off will be Wednesday May 11th in ACC B128 (our classroom)
There is an entry form to be filled out and attached to the back of each work you wish to enter. These forms should be available in the art studio classrooms. If not, check with any available studio professor.

Jurying will be May 12th and May 13th
Rejected work should be picked up Monday May 16th (last day of classes this semester)

Rejected work that is not claimed may be disposed of over the summer.

The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday May 26th, at 4:00 pm. The show will remain on display until the fall semester.

The juror will award prizes in the amounts of $200, $100, and $50.

If I learn any more details I will post them here.
